Code of Conduct
Northwest Tea Festival
Code of Conduct
Northwest Tea Festival leadership is committed to welcoming people to the Northwest Tea Festival and any other Puget Sound Tea Education Association sponsored events, either at the festival facility or off-site, welcoming the widest diversity of backgrounds and providing a vibrant and innovative environment. Our events will maintain a respectful environment for people of any race, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, ability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and belief.
As a volunteer, you are an integral part of the Northwest Tea Festival team, and we thank you for participating. You represent the festival to both patrons and the Seattle public at large. Without volunteers like you, we would never be able to put on such an event every year. You will help make this festival a positive and safe experience for all, and in order to maintain this, we ask that all volunteers adhere to the following:
• Smile and have fun! Volunteering is a rewarding experience we hope you will enjoy with your community.
• The use of alcohol and controlled or illegal substances before or during your shift is prohibited.
• Children, friends and family members may not accompany you on your volunteer shift unless you have been given permission to do so from the Volunteer Coordinator. They are welcome to apply to volunteer and work with you!
• Respect diversity. It is not acceptable to harass others on any basis.
• Report any questionable activity and/or medical or security related situation to a NWTF staff person.
• Treat visitors, fellow volunteers, vendors, presenters, staff, and any other festival participants with respect and courtesy.
• Remember that boundaries of good taste, humor, and physical interaction differ from person to person. If you sense someone feels uncomfortable - whether they explicitly state it or not - be respectful of those boundaries.
• Be willing to perform the duties and tasks of the volunteer job you signed up for or communicate with the volunteer leads if you need to be reassigned.
• Show up on time and dressed appropriately for scheduled events and shifts.
• Contact volunteer coordinator or your supervisor immediately if you must cancel a scheduled volunteer shift.
• Stay through your entire shift and check out at the end of your scheduled time.
